Five days. Over 10,000 items. One more year proving why Edmonton is the premier event on the Canadian equipment auction calendar.

Our auction in Edmonton is always one to remember, and this year’s event from May 11-15 generated nearly CA$175 million in gross transaction value (GTV) to continue a strong run of results for this one-of-a-kind auction.

The audience of buyers we attracted – both online and onsite – topped 4,400 from around the world, with strong participation from Canadian buyers across key sectors, including construction, transportation and energy.

What stood out this year in Edmonton

Coming off a strong spring, including a record-breaking CA$93.5 million result in Grande Prairie just weeks before, the momentum heading into Edmonton was undeniable. The sale drew 18,600+ registered bidders and saw 10,300+ lots transact across various industries like construction, transportation, energy, agriculture and more.

The auction featured strong representation from key consignors across Western Canada, providing a broad mix of equipment across major categories. Transportation assets performed well, with strong interest in packages from DDC, Spruce Hollow, Boyd Ventures and Mike Vail Trucking. On the construction side, consignments from Contrac Equipment, and Pacesetter Equipment helped drive participation across a range of price points.

“We would like to thank the 1,400+ consignors and 4,400+ buyers who contributed to making the 2026 Edmonton May event a success,” said Ryan Eacrett, Vice President of Canada Sales for Ritchie Bros. “It’s a privilege to partner with our customers, and we appreciate the trust they continue to place in us.”

Beyond the auction: Community and customer appreciation

During preview Saturday, Ritchie Bros. held a Customer Appreciation BBQ with a live broadcast from K97, serving more than 800 attendees. The event included the company’s inaugural Show & Shine, bringing together classic autos and trucks from the auction, local car clubs, and vehicles from staff, consignors and customers.

The week’s customer programming concluded with the annual VIP event, highlighted by the induction of Merv Pidherney into the Ritchie Bros. Hall of Fame. Merv and his family have been a valued Ritchie Bros. customer for decades. Watch the Hall of Fame documentary below:
