1. How Ritchie Bros. auctions work?
Our auctions are unreserved, meaning that there is no starting price on the items sold in auction. Mostly we sell equipment in an online Timed Auction (TAL), with no auctioneer. Bidding opens a week before selling days and closes at staggered times during the auction days. Every item is sold to the highest bidder when bidding closes. 2. How can I purchase items in your auction?
- Create a free account on our website. You can create multiple bidding profiles under one account – for example, if you buy equipment for your company and/or for personal use. Be sure to set up your account with the personal name or business name that should appear on your invoice(s).
After creating your account, an email will be sent to the email address you registered – you must click the link in the email to activate your account. Once your account is active, you can register and bid online. - Register to bid online in the auction of your choice, find global auction calendar here.
Watch a detailed video on account creation and auction registration here. - Set up a bidding limit by placing a refundable deposit equivalent to 25% of your bidding limit using credit card or wire transfer. Note that wire transfer deposits must be made at least 5-7 banking days before the auction and wire transfer details should include your bidder number, account name and auction location. When the transfer is complete, please share an email with all above details with a SWIFT/receipt proof of payment to: Dubai_CSMs@rbauction.com. In case of no purchases, the wire transfer deposit will be refunded within 14 business days upon request.
- Start placing your bids on the item(s) of your choice when the bidding starts for the auction you registered. (Usually 1 week prior to selling days)
3. Are there buyer fees when purchasing items in Ritchie Bros. auctions?
Yes, each purchased lot will be subject to the transaction fee. You can find details of the buyers’ fees according to the auction region here.
4. Can I personally inspect equipment before buying?
Yes, viewing of all items delivered to our yard is available to all registered customers one week prior to each auction. Registered bidders are not required to obtain a gate pass to enter JAFZA through gates 7 and 8. Note that our yard is open for inspections during the weekend before auction closing days from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Appropriate PPE gear must be worn prior to entering our yard.
5. What to expect after I won the item?
After completion of the auction, you will receive a proforma invoice to process payments within 7 days. Your invoice will include buyer transaction fees per lot. Once your invoice is paid in full, you can collect your purchase(s) and ownership documents. Learn more about purchase payment here.
6. Can I cancel my purchases?
No, all bids are irrevocable, and all sales are final. If you’re the highest bidder when the auctioneer announces that an item has been sold, you’re the new owner of that item.
7. When can I pick up my item?
All equipment must be removed within 30 days after the auction. A release form will be provided to you considering invoice is paid in full and ownership title transferred. Gate pass will be provided and must be presented before loading and/or removal of any equipment. For further details, please contact: Dubai_CSMs@rbauction.com.
8. How do I export my purchases and documentation provided?
All purchases can be exported directly from JAFZA or any port of your choice. Ritchie Bros. will provide invoice, delivery advice and gate pass to prepare transfer of ownership and export declaration. Find more information on this process under “Important Equipment Pick-up Guidelines” here.
Once complete set of documents is prepared, we can help with loading and lashing, stuffing and preparing containers at an additional cost. Otherwise, contact our authorized agents who can support you with seamless export.
9. Is there financing available for my purchases?
Yes, financing solutions are available to UAE customers only with Emirates NBD. Please fill out this form to receive a call back from the bank representative. (T&Cs apply)
