March Market Trends Report looks back at 2025 equipment data

March 10, 2026

With our March edition, we are taking a broad view of construction equipment and transportation sales
in the fourth quarter and throughout 2025 using the industry’s best data.

In the full report, we look at pricing and volume trends for most major construction and transportation equipment categories with both Ritchie Bros. auction data and Rouse retail insights.

Ritchie Bros. Auction Trends

Overall auction pricing results are fairly consistent on a year-over-year basis across the U.S. and Canada. A few key highlights:

  • In the U.S., Fork Lifts and Truck Tractors have shown some price improvement but this is largely driven by less volume, newer units, and lower usage on the assets sold.
  • Nearly all earthmoving equipment types are down across both geographies.
  • Skid Steers and Scissor Lifts have shown improvement in Canada.

Generally, sales volumes were down, which should bolster pricing, but is outweighed by market demand. Both age and usage are fairly mixed across the two geographies.

Ritchie Bros. Mixed Adjusted Price Indexes

In Q4 2025, construction prices in the U.S. were down about 1% compared to the previous quarter (Q3 2025). On the year construction prices were down 4% compared to 2024. Meanwhile, transportation prices in Q4 2025 remained the same versus Q3. Overall prices for transportation dropped 1% in 2025 compared to the previous year.

In Canada, construction prices in Q4 showed a 2% decline compared to last quarter (Q3 2025). Prices in 2025 for the Canadian construction sector dropped 3.5% compared to the year prior. For transportation, prices in Q4 2025 decreased 2% when compared to Q3. On the year, there was a 6% price drop overall when compared to 2024.

Retail Used Equipment Market from Rouse

Transportation prices in the U.S. are down by 5% while construction prices have changed by less than
1% from the last quarter (Q3 2025). Prices are about “pre-pandemic” (2019) levels for transportation, and
